It was announced in a press release on Monday that fifty of the nation's and southeastern region's best girls high school basketball players will play in two special invitational games on Sunday 29 September at West Lake High School in Atlanta.
The Fullcourt Fresh 50 Invitational will showcase some of this country's best young female basketball talent in two very select, competitive games. The first game will pitch two teams of nationally ranked high school players against each other while a second game will provide some of the best players in the southeastern region the opportunity to square off against each other.
Some of the girls have already committed to high profile college programs like Duke, University of Oklahoma, Tennessee and Connecticut. Others have yet to commit and there still more who will hope to impress the large number of college scouts who should be in attendance.
In addition to the games, all players selected for the games will also participate in the NCAA certified Super Showcase Skills Select with renowned trainer Ganon Baker on Sept. 27-29 at Westlake High School.
Kelly Kline, Managing Editor of Fullcourt.com, the organizer of the event is very enthusiastic about the weekend, "This is the first event of its kind in the United States and it provides the players the opportunity to play with, and against, their peer group, some of the best in the country. It will be an early indicator of just how good these players are!"
She added, "The college scouts are very excited about the games for that reason. It's one thing to see players playing at their high school it's another thing entirely to see them go head-to-head with some of the other top players from around the nation!"
The goal of the event is to bring exposure to the quality of the players at the high school level and to give the young women the opportunity to play in a high level game.
Some of the nationally ranked players confirmed to play include A’ja Wilson from Columbia, SC; Te'a Cooper from Powder Springs, GA; Victoria Vivians from Forest, MS; Jordan Hosey from Pearland, TX; Sierra Calhoun from Brooklyn, NY; Skakayla Thomas from Sylacauga AL; Lynee Belton from Clinton, MD; Caliya Robinson from Marietta, GA; and Gabrielle Ortiz from Mt.
