Love is in the air! It's the time of year where you saunter down a random store aisle and see tons of heart-shaped candies, fluffy teddy bears, and bouquets. Why? Because Valentine's Day is a simple hop, skip, and jump away from today.
Yeah, we're all aware of the long-standing arguments that Valentine's Day is too "commercial" and "meant for corporations to make money" (as if other holidays don't fall into these categories, too). Excuse me for a minute. Let's be truly honest. The only people who say things like that are those who: A) don't want to spend money on gifts and dinner for their significant other, or B) don't have a boo. However, we must come to the realization that the days of everyone receiving at least one card and a piece of candy have long disappeared into our memories of elementary school. Unfortunately, they will never return.
Now, I admit that a teeny-weeny bit of truth does exist in some of those reasons to essentially denounce love day. But, so what? Yes, we know that you should treat your lover well the other 364 days of the year. Yes, we know that it's pretty commercialized. Still, don't be a Valentine's Day-pooper. This glorious day is supposed to make you feel ooey-gooey and lovey-dovey on the inside! So, in the honor of the Cupid season, I have created a list of my favorite TV couples from over the years. Take a quick gander at the slide show.
Oh, and please share some of your favorite TV couples below! I want to hear about yours.
The Simpsons- Marge & Homer
He loves doughnuts. She has statuesque blue hair. They are perfect for each other. No matter what dumb thing Homer does, Marge stands right by his side. They have truly been through thick and thin these past decades.
Martin- Martin & Gina
Her large head was often the topic of discussion, and his short stature was the butt of all jokes. Heck, their respective parents even got on each other's nerves, but they still made it work. Not to mention, by far Martin and Gina had one of the best TV weddings ever. For a long time they made me want a small wedding in the Caribbean.
The Office- Pam & Jim
Okay, they work at a paper company with some of the most hilariously foolish co-workers ever, but Pam and Jim…got to love them. In the beginning seasons of The Office, I reallllyy wanted them to be together, even though it seemed like the odds were totally against them. And, when they finally got married, I know that I wasn't the only one jumping for joy.
Saved By The Bell- Zach & Kelly
Okay, I know this is has got to be one of the corniest TV couples on here, but can you really tell me that as a kid you didn't envy Zach and Kelly's love affair? Any time they kissed, the whole audience erupted into "woooooooooo." I imagined that I would find a love like this in high school. They were perfect for each other.
Living Single- Overton & Synclaire
He was the handy-man of all handy-men. She loved her some trolls. Put them both together, and wha-la. You have Overton and Synclaire. Sure, they overdid it with all of those sickening cute little pet names and kissing, but I still loved them as a couple. They were so innocently cute together.
I Love Lucy- Lucy & Ricardo
In the beginning they had twin beds in their marital bedroom. As always, Lucy seemed to screw up and sabotage things for Ricky, and he had to let her know his frustration with her in Spanish. What made me like them so much is the fact they always ended up laughing and hugging each other.
The Cosby Show- Clair & Cliff
For some reason, Cliff and Clair made marriage and children seem so cool and seamless. They both worked demanding full-time jobs, yet they managed to keep their relationship flirty and sexy. At times, they even busted a move.
Boy Meets World- Topanga & Cory
Cory loved Topanga since he first laid eyes on her. They were meant to be together. Marriage even ended up being the outcome. Who knew that a childhood puppy love could turn into a lifetime romance?
