With Mother’s Day being only a few days away, there are so many things and gifts out there that it can seem overwhelming of what to get for your mom. If you’re mom likes climbing, there are quite a few things available that she’s going to appreciate, use, and love you for. And the gift doesn’t necessarily have to be materialistic either. Here are some ideas for you to celebrate your climbing moms this weekend.
Climbing and a picnic
If the weather is nice, take her to a local crag for a day of climbing. If you have younger siblings that would be a handful should you take them along, find someone to watch them while you spend a day taking on some routes with your mom. Take a picnic along with you and treat her to a nice lunch you made. Or if you’re not much of a cook, pick up some things from your local market to pack for a nice hearty lunch.
Gear she wants or needs
Has your mom had her eye on a piece of gear she’s wanted or that she really needs? Maybe she needs a new set of quickdraws or a new set of nuts for trad climbing since the ones in her climbing pack are wearing out from constant use. We all want mom to be safe while out climbing, so do her a little favor and surprise her with some new draws or trad climbing gear.
When mom’s out climbing, she needs nutrition and an energy boost to keep her crushing on the routes. CLIF MOJO Dark Chocolate bars are some of the newer flavors released by CLIF. These bars are seriously delicious and a great snack while out climbing. You also can’t go wrong with the Honey Stinger Waffles. With several different flavors, these morsels of yummy goodness are a great boost to the energy as well.
With quite a selection of climbing films out there, there’s one director that really knows how to make a phenomenal climbing film and that’s Alastair Lee. A recommendation would be the set that includes The Asgard Project, Autana and The Last Great Climb. All three films not only have absolutely stunning cinematography, but the strong adventure climbing team that consists of Leo Houlding, Jason Pickles, and the late Sean “Stanley” Leary make the films all the more better. Amidst the challenges that include inclement weather conditions and insect infestations, this team climbs hard while spreading humor and encouragement for entertaining and incredible feats.
Personalized photobook of mom climbing
You’ve probably shared some pretty epic climbing adventures with your mom, or she’s climbed some impressive walls where photos have been taken. Why not put those pictures together in a scrapbook or personalized photobook for her? Even if you don’t think you’re the most creative when it comes to throwing something like this together, your mom will truly appreciate it. She’ll see the effort and thought you put into it, will most likely be beside herself and extremely appreciative of such a personalized gift.
