Monthly subscription boxes of various types are all the rage, and Julep hopes their concept will impress you enough to give them a try.
When you sign up for Julep, you're asked a series of questions, and your responses result in assignment to one of four style profiles. Julep bases your welcome box and monthly deliveries on this style profile.
You do have the option of logging into Julep's Web site near the end of each month, however, to make changes to your monthly box or even to specify an alternate recipient, should you want to gift a monthly box and have it shipped directly to that person.
My Maven box
Julep lets you choose between two tiers of monthly boxes - My Maven, priced at $24.99 a month, or Maven Luxe, costing $39.99 a month. Julep bills the Maven Luxe box as containing $60 worth of "prestige" products and the My Maven box as including $40 worth of polish and product.
The "My Maven" Julep box which I received came very attractively packaged. It contained a 3-ounce Julep Rock Star Hand Creme tube along with two 0.27-ounce Julep nail polishes. The nail polish stays on very well, even without a base coat, and the hand creme seems to be of good quality, too.
Subscription continues automatically
I purchased the Julep My Maven box using a deal from Swagbucks, but still had to enter a credit card number when ordering. Julep will automatically begin charging your credit card monthly unless you call them to cancel, even if you sign up using a discount offer.
Login monthly to customize box
Julep doesn't accept returns on their monthly boxes. If you sign up and decide to continue the service, you'll probably want to mark your calendar to sign in at the appropriate time each month for customizing your box, so that you make sure to only receive products you think you'll like.
