One more day of summer heat, combined with moderate levels of humidity, will be in store for the Capital Region today. A strong cold front is forecast to sweep through the area later this afternoon and this evening, bringing a threat for shower and thunderstorm activity. There is the possibility that a rogue storm or two may reach strong to locally severe limits, though this should be the exception rather than the rule. Activity will diminish overnight, and skies should clear, humidity levels lower, and temperatures should start out Friday in the low to mid 60’s.
High pressure will build southward, into the region, through the coming weekend and into early next week. A series of delightful late summer days looks to be in store with temperatures in the upper 70’s to lower 80’s for highs, and in the 50’s to near 60 for lows.
The weather pattern turns a bit more chaotic as we head toward the midweek period next week. A series of weak disturbances accelerate eastward along the northern tier of the United States, and this may bring some instances of shower activity to the region by this time. Despite the shower threat, there will also be intervals of clouds and sunshine, and a mild airmass looks to be over the region, with temperatures running above normal.
