The Minnesota Wild leave the Northwest Division and head to the Central Division with five new rivals and one old divisional foe.
The Central Division possesses some very good goaltenders and some mediocre starters.
Wild starter Niklas Backstrom ranks among the best in the league.
The Wild also are one of the deepest organizations in goaltending depth.
Backstrom was a workhorse last season with the uncertain future of backup Josh Harding. Harding now appears to have a handle on his medication and should provide Backstrom with more days off.
Darcy Kuemper and Johan Gustafsson are two elite goaltending prospects that will split time in Iowa this season. Kuemper proved last season that he can play in the NHL and Gustafsson is making his North American debut.
The other two prospects, Stephen Michalek and Alexandre Belanger are young sleeper candidates that need time to develop.
Here is the list of starting goaltenders in the Central Division in order from best to worst.
