Once again, Miley Cyrus bared herself to the world, performing at the iHeart Radio Festival on Saturday.
After being introduced by Britney Spears as “my girl Miley Cyrus,” the “girl [who’s] about to get to work, bitch," the 20-year-old singer stepped on stage wearing a white mesh dress with furry sleeves. Underneath were nothing but panties and pasties.
Although MTV dubbed the show a “decidedly toned down” performance from her much-discussed VMA routine, she did sing her party anthem while dancers in mushroom, rainbow, and flower costumes writhed whimsically in the background. As she sang into her faux banana microphone, Cyrus also twerked with abandon, slapped the behind of a dwarf, characteristically stuck out her tongue, and grabbed herself during the performance.
Her usually upbeat character, however, took a downturn during her first ever live performance of “Wrecking Ball.” As images of collapsing buildings flashing on the video screen behind her, Cyrus was reduced to tears onstage and sank to bended knee.
This breakdown comes on the heels of the announcement that Cyrus and "Hunger Games" star Liam Hemsworth ended their engagement. Cyrus' camp claims she broke up with him over allegations that he was unfaithful to her.
However, as the former “Hannah Montana” Disney star said goodnight to her adoring fans, Cyrus seemed to return to good spirits, rocking out to a guitar solo as she left the stage.
