MC Hammer was arrested after he was pulled over in Dublin, California on Saturday. The star claims he was a victim of racial profiling by the arresting officers.
Allegedly, Hammer was asked if he was "on probation or parole" by the officer, and was cited with obstruction. Police have until the court date next month to formally file charges against the singer.
The star has taken to Twitter to tell his side of the story, and although he claims he is not bitter, he wants this to be a learning opportunity for all involved:
Instead of being bitter, I'm taking the opportunity to make this a "teachable moment" and "eye opener" for my many friends & colleagues.
Several hours before he tweeted that message, he let his fans know this:
only thing more dangerous than a scared man with a gun, is a scared man with an agenda, a gun and a badge. I was citied for obstruction smh
MC Hammer became an overnight sensation in 1990 with his hit song 'U Can't Touch This.' He recently appeared at the 2013 American Music Awards, performing onstage with Psy.
