March fun at Audubon Acres, Chickamauga Battlefield and more

Shamrock City is Rock City's 6th annual Irish celebration and festival. This premiere St. Patrick's Day Celebration includes live Irish music, Irish jig lessons, Irish food, specialty beer, green wine, costume characters and fun for the family. This event has been selected as a Top 20 Event by Southeast Tourism Society for March 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013! Easter comes early in 2013 and the Chattanooga riverboat, The Southern Belle, is ready with two Easter Cruises. March 30th features a Pancake Breakfast suited for kids at 9:30 am. The cruise on March 31st at 1 pm features a delectable lunch buffet of Carved Pit Ham, Chicken Wisconsin, Biscuits and Gravy and so much more.   This month the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park is celebrating the role of women during the Civil War with two tours. On March 9, 2013 at 2 pm the tour, Women in War: The Roles Women Played, will begin at the Wilder Brigade Monument. Two weeks later, Ladies on the Field: Unique witnesses of Chickamauga will discuss the accounts of women at the Battle of Chickamauga beginning at 6:30 pm.View the list »

Along with a couple of classes, three nature hikes and a planning meeting (that features chili) they have their Little Owl Music and Arts Festival scheduled for March 23, 2013. Celebrate Audubon Acre’s historic past and visionary future with a fun filled day for the entire family with live music, food and special performances. From 11 am to 6 pm.

March is a busy month for Chattanooga’s historical places. With celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, Easter and Women’s History Month, there are plenty of fun and educational things for the whole family to do this month. Below is a quick synopsis of a few of the historical places with special events during March.

Audubon Acres has a few classes planned plus a music festival and a special tour of Enterprise South Nature Park. The Chattanooga Chickamauga National Military Park is honoring women in the Civil War with a couple interpretive tours around the Chickamauga Battlefield. Atop Lookout Mountain, historic Rock City is turning green in honor of St. Patrick’s Day. Finally, the Tennessee River is providing the perfect spot for an Easter Celebration aboard the Southern Belle Riverboat.
