Manischewitz Cook Off contest: Public invited to vote Feb. 21-28

The Man-O-Manishewitz Cook-Off Contest is the only national kosher cooking competition in America. In an exclusive email with their PR firm on Feb. 21, Manischewitz is seeking a fifth finalist to compete live alongside the four finalists already chosen by the judging panel; public voting has begun.

On March 21, all five finalists will be invited to The Manischewitz Company’s headquarters located in Newark, N.J. for the chance to cook-off their prized recipes at the company’s test kitchen.

Contestants were asked to submit a family friendly recipe that can be created in less than one hour.

Here are the “People’s Choice” finalists (from the Manischewitz website): Based on your vote, one will become our fifth finalists to compete live on March 21.

  • Loanne Chiu – Fort Worth, Texas – Roasted Pomegrante Fish
  • Michele Kusma – Columbus, Ohio – Sweet & Spicy Seared Tuna
  • Deb Stoner – Portland, Ore. – Poached Salmon on Potato Waffles with Beet Reduction
  • Donna Beck – Bonney, Wash. – Curry Spiced Pumpkin Peanut Soup
  • Janice Elder – Charlotte, N.C. – Black Thai Lettuce Wraps

From Feb. 21- 28, consumers can vote at www.manischewitz.com via online, Facebook and Twitter, to select the fifth finalist.

Five finalists will prepare their recipes, live in front of an esteemed panel of judges, consisting of food media and other culinary experts, for the grand prize worth $25,000 including Maytag appliances, cash and more.

Cook book author as well as the founder of the “Joy of Kosher with Jamie Geller” magazine and website, will act as head judge.
