Food and water are necessities in life. A person needs these to nourish the body. The body utilizes food to replenish lost vitamins and minerals. Vitamins and minerals aid in such areas as healthy cell, muscle, etc. growth. Food also gives fuel to energize the body for movement. Water assists nutrients in flowing throughout the body. It is also responsible for removing toxins out of the body. The body consists of over 50% of water. Eating and drinking properly are essential to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The cliché goes, “You are what you eat.” If true, then eat right!
The Holy Bible is food for the soul. The Word of God is right for a spiritual healthy lifestyle. Jesus taught in the Scripture the following: “But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.“ (Matthew 4:4) People have true life when they are receiving nourishment from God’s word. Famine happen when there is a lack of food both physically and spiritually (God’s word).
Believers in Christ Jesus may choose to fast and go without food. This discipline is to strengthen them spiritually as they feast more on God’s word. Jesus taught that some changes would not happen except by prayer and fasting. “Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.”(Matthew 17:21)
Challenge: Believer, forsake eating physically for the higher cause of changing the spiritual nourishment in your life and others.
