Makeup spring 2013 trends

Dramatic LashesAnother big hit during the Spring/Summer New York Fashion Week were, lashes, lashes, and more lashes.  The lashes on the runway were very dramatic.  The spring/summer lashes that are treading now are extremely full, extremely long, and of course this will be accomplished using fake lashes.Yes, ladies if you love your fake eyelashes, this is the season to get back at applying those long and dramatic eyelashes some of you love putting on.  This season, ladies everywhere will be styling gorgeous eyelashes that are very long, distinct, and fluttery; brightening up any and every eye color and complimenting your kitten eye and an array of eye shadow colors.Ladies, get your fake lashes out and begin creating some dramatic eyes with lashes.  If you don’t like applying fake lashes, there are many different types mascara you can use to try creating dramatic eyelashes.  Maybelline Falsies or Maybelline Colossal – Waterproof Volum.   There are many on the market that can give you dramatic looking lashes. Kitten EyeDuring the Spring/Summer New York Fashion Week, we saw another trend for the eyes change on the runways.  Ladies, it’s time to do away with the heavy Cleopatra cat-eye look and in with the kitten-eye.  The cat-eye has been a big hit with an exotic appearance, but now it’s time for the kitten-eye.Some of you may be asking, what is the difference between the kitten and cat eye.  The cat eye has a thicker line across the lid; whereas the kitten eye has more of a flick of a line at the end (see photo and how the end is a simple flick of gel liner).  It still defines the eye, giving you a nice sleek look.If you want the kitten eye look, try practicing a few times first.  Begin by drawing a think line across the top of your lashes and flicking it out at the outer corner of the eye with an eyeliner pencil.  The eyeliner pencil will provide a base and template for you to come back and apply the gel or liquid eyeliner.  Using the eyeliner pencil will allow you to clean up better if you make a mistake because the gel or liquid liner will be much harder to clean up.Note:  Be sure to use an eyeliner pencil with a good pointy end so you are able to draw a thin and precise flick of a line.  You can then thicken the line with gel or liquid eyeliner.Reminder: you are only drawing a flick of a line in the corner of the eye, not a thick line that will give you a cat eye.Bold and thick browsLadies, the thin drawn on eyebrows are out and the fuller, bolder and thicker eyebrows are in this spring.  It is now one of the number one trends on the fashion block.  During the New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2013 runway shows, the thick eyebrows were certainly making a big appearance.  Now you may ask; what are the essentials to getting these great, thick, and bold eyebrows.  The idea is to use products that will help you get defined, tough, and bushy eyebrows.Things to purchase for this look are: Sculpting eyebrow pencil (with brush)  - The sculpting eyebrow pencil will help shape and define eyebrows with a fine powder.  The brush helps blend the brows, giving brows a texture and create natural hair lines and long lasting wear. Browmousse eyebrow styling gel – The eyebrow styling gel will help keep the shape of your brows and brow hair in place.  The gel is clear and contains a condition that lays the brows down and helps hold them in place.Retractable Brow Pencil, and Vaseline (purchase from local drug store).  It’s the Retractable Brow Pencil that will help you create fuller looking and defined brows.  The pencil is small and very easy to handling, making it easier for you to create hair-like strokes that will give you more of a natural brow hair appearance.  You can then use the other end to blend brows.View the list »

Alright ladies, March 19 was the last day of winter and spring has arrived, so let’s talk about the spring 2013 makeup that’s trending now. During the spring/summer 2013 New York Fashion Week, makeup artists did not play it safe with drab colors; instead, they experimented with bold and bright colors and looks. Bolder and fuller eye brows, dramatic lashes, and bright red and matted lipsticks were all over the runway as the 2013 spring trends.

Although, the satin face color and nude lip color is in as well, makeup artists were also experiencing with bright colors; such as, sparkly hues of blues, turquoise, greens, pinks, purples, oranges, reds, and other bright colors; coupled with thick black mascara.

  • Eye wear:  Cat Eye SunglassesLadies, we can’t leave the eyes without talking about the new spring/summer 2013 eye wear trend.  I hope you didn't throw your grandmother’s Cat Eye Sunglasses away because yes, they are back this spring/summer season.  The fashion world has reached back into the 1950-1960’s inspired cat eye glasses, a vintage look that had been gone for quite some time and now is back.The vintage looking cat eye sunglasses were seen on the runway at the New York Fashion Week on the Anna Sui, Falguni & Shane Peacock, Jason Wu, Marc by Marc Jacobs, and House of Holland.  This spring/summer season, you will see these cat eye sunglasses in many styles, shapes, colors, and sizes.  The 1950’s and 60’s inspired look will be for those that are interested in all sorts of fashion styles, especially the 50’s-60’s style lover, bohemian, and more style lovers.Are you ready to protect your eyes with the cat eye fashion trend? 
  • Lips:  Nude and RedTwo of the hottest trends during the Summer/Spring New York Fashion Week were the nude and matte red lips.  Both looks were all over the runways combined with other hot spring/summer makeup trends.We’ll talk about the nude lip first and to create this look, you want to ensure you choose a look that won’t make you look washed out, be sure to select a nude look that will compliment your skin tone.  There are nudes with pink, peach, tan, and brown hues so be sure to select wisely.  You want to make sure you are balancing out the colors on your face.  If you’re going to wear a nude lip color, try with a very subtle almost bare face with a colorful eye shadow, smoky eye; along with lashes.  Since the lips are nude, you go a little more dramatic with your eye color and lashes.The red matte lip, another heavy hitter on the runway and hot trend this season.  You may find it easier and even cheaper to create this style with a simple lip liner because it’s the best base to use before applying your lipstick.  This technique also helps your lipstick lasts longer.  If you’re looking to add somewhat of a shiny look, you can also skip the lipstick and just add a lip gloss.The matte red lip is vice-versa of the nude lip.  If you’re wearing the red lip color, you want to sort of tone down your eye color so your bright lip color is not clashing with a bright eye color.
