Do you have a lot of unmatched socks like we do? Sometimes they run away and disappear after their first wash! I am always hesitant at throwing them away because I have hope that the other one will show up soon. It never does though and I'm left with unmatched socks. Then I began thinking of what I could do with them to get use out of them. We had fabric markers from previous projects so I figured to just let my kids' imaginations go and have them decorate their own socks.
Follow the list and pictures below and let your kids have fun creating their own designs on their unmatched socks too!
This is all you need. Gather your old socks and your fabric markers. I like these markers because you can color or dark fabric too. They will work perfectly on the colored socks.
Explain to your child what the purpose of this craft is and let them color on their socks. Remind them that the markers can bleed through so instruct them to put paper inside the sock or just not press down very hard when they are coloring.
Give your child some ideas if they aren't sure what to draw. Give them the option of one or multiple color schemes and encourage them to draw whatever they want.
Color the socks
Continue to encourage your child to do the best they can and watch their imagination explode. I liked the stripes my daughter drew around the edges.
Enjoy the art
These turned out well too! It's so fun to watch your child draw whatever they want. I particularly loved the landscape picture. It was a sun and a tree and just too cute!
When your child is finished, follow the marker package instructions prior to wearing. I can't wait to see which socks they match up to wear once I wash them.
