During the disco era of the 70s, Puerto Rican fashion illustrator Antonio Lopez, gained fame for his illustrations that were featured in such fashion magazines as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Elle as well as designing several ad campaigns that included a trend setting series for Bloomingdale’s. Now 26 years after his death, MAC Cosmetics is paying homage to the famous illustrator with their limited edition Antonio Lopez collection.
The first of several limited edition collections for Fall 2013, this collection uses drawings of the artists depicting his muses of the 70s consisting of Jerry Hall (whom he is credited for discovering), Marisa Berenson and Pat Cleveland also know as 'Antonio's Girls'. The three former models are also the face on the Antonio Lopez collection campaign that will consist of three bold eye palette with six colors, three vibrant lip palettes with three colors and two neutral face (blush) palettes with three colors.
Featuring a drawing of Marisa Berenson on the eyeshadow palettes choose from:
Teal Palette: Colorful Life (dark teal), Fashion Legend (black with pink pearl), Nighttrain Charcoal (grey with crystalline frost), Sex & Disco (a sparkling cool silver), Freshwater (a sparkling blue with blue pearl) and Sketchbook (a glittery blackened olive color).
Bronze Palette: Dear Cupcake (a blue-pink color), Artistic License (a frosty pink gold), Easy Gesture (a pale warm beige) Creative Copper (a true gold color), Golden Touch (a burnt tarnished taupe color) and Carbonized (a deep warm brown).
Violet Palette: Violet Impact (a vibrant violet), Envisioning (blue pink), Lithe Spirit (a cool cream color), Showgirl (dark blue grey), Graphic Style (silver) and Carbon (an intense matte black).
The lip palettes feature a drawing of Pat Cleveland and comes in the following shades:
Red Palette: Scarlet Ibis (a bright orange red), MAC Red (a vivid bluish red) and Deeply Adored (a deep matte scarlet color).
Nude Palette: Art Directed (a sheer glossy champagne color), Antonio's Girls (a light satin peach) and Deeply Adored (a light almost white pink).
Fuchsia Palette: Candy Yum-Yum (a matte neon pink), Moxie (a matte blue pink) and Bioletta (a bright violet pink).
Lastly is the face/blush palettes that feature a drawing of Jerry Hall. Choose from:
Pink Palette: Belightful (a light bronze with gold shimmer), Peaceful (peach) and Pure Femininity (a blue pink shade).
Coral Palette: Star (a golden peach with pearlized pink and peach tones), Smooth Harmony (a golden bronze) and Passion for Colour (coral).
Also available for purchase in the Antonio Lopez collection is the Antonio Lopez limited edition blush brush, mirror, tote and makeup bag. The mirror, tote and makeup bag all feature drawings from Antonio Lopez as well.
Currently, limited items are available online at MAC Cosmetics as of Sept.5 but the entire line will be available for purchase in stores on Sept. 12 and will only be sold until Oct. 10.
Price point begins at $25 for the Antonio Lopez mirror and up to $55 for the Antonio Lopez. The palettes will run between $27.50 and $46.
