Lane Kiffin has been fired and Athletic Director Pat Haden and the University of Southern California (USC) administration are now steadfastly trying to figure out who will be the next Trojans head coach. Haden’s legacy may be riding on this selection, so the lawyer in him will undoubtedly be calculating and precise in his deliberation.
You’ve probably seen dozens of names surface as potential candidates. There is what I like to call the typical favorite’s choices and then there are those who might be considered likely but aren’t on everyone’s list. They’re not flying below the radar; it’s just that they aren’t what most figure are likely choices.
Those listed here are a mix of up-and-comers, established, young and old. Keep in mind, Haden was stuck with Kiffin because USC signed Kiffin months before they hired Haden. Although the school and alumni will have a voice in the decision, this is Haden’s choice and I can see Haden hiring any one of these seven men. Note: they're listed alphabetically.
