Next week, thousands of emerging artists--and a few established ones, as well--will converge on New York City for what has become the northeastern equivalent to South By Southwest.
The event started in 1980 with the intention of exposing emerging talent to industry professionals. Lately--much like SXSW--the event has become an attraction to music fans as much as it is to industry folks.
This year, as Washington D.C. continues to develop its own music scene, several area artists have been tapped to perform at this year's conference. Though Dismemberment Plan is already on most indie fans' radars, there are several other emerging act's from D.C. that deserve some attention.
