Kate Middleton tops list of most popular celebrity names

Dame Helen Mirren is the the third spot of popular celebrity names UK women would choose for themselves.  The respected English actor has won an Academy Awards as well as multiple Emmys, Golden Globes, Cannes Film Festival Best Actress and BAFTAs.  In 2003, she was made a Dame for services to the performing arts at a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.UK women chose Cheryl Cole as their second most popular choice of celebrity names to rename themselves.  Nearly 10% of those polled said they would change their names to reinvent themselves while 2% would do it on a dare! The Duchess of Cambridge is not only the most photographed woman in the world, she also has the most popular celebrity name, according to a new poll. The UK Deed Poll, the agency used to officially change a name in the UK, found "Kate Middleton" is the name the majority of women would change their name to if they opted to go for a new moniker.

The poll results, released by Huffington Post on Feb. 6 reveal Kate Middleton and David Beckham are the most sought-after celebrity names. Other popular celebrity names are Cheryl Cole, Helen Mirren, Holly Willoughby, and Victoria Beckham. Rounding out the top 5 most popular male names are Brad Pitt, Stephen Fry, Daniel Craig, and James Bond.

According to the official UK Deed Poll website, people change their name for any number of reasons. Among the most popular reasons for a name change in the UK are marriage, divorce, an embarrassing name, or by those unhappy with their birth name.
