With the proliferation of little ethnic carryout restaurants in the Maryland/D.C./Virginia area, diners have been exposed to all kinds of ethnic cuisines in a casual manner. But, have you ever wondered about how those flavors would play out in a gourmet chef's hands? Have you further wondered about the various dishes from different countries, how they compare and contrast?
D.C.'s Ceiba -- near Metro Center -- features a new, innovative promotion to help you learn about the global flavors! I'm glad to have been hosted to experience this month, featuring Peruvian food. Chef Jeff Tunks is a CIA grad and has traveled extensively.
The decor is modern, yet hints of the Middle Ages in light fixtures and colors. Lively Latino music plays in the background. Dress leans towards casual.
PASSPORT TO LATIN AMERICA Culinary Tour
Each month they will feature a country or region and offer a 4-course tasting menu showcasing its finest ingredients. Everyone who completes 9 tasting menus -- getting a cute "passport" stamped with real embossed stamping -- will be invited to dine on their dime at a special event at the conclusion of the 12th month. Click here to see September's menu featuring Peru.
On the last Tuesday of each month from 6pm until 8pm they will kick off the next menu with Specialty Cocktails and Hors’d Oeuvres.
Join them September 24 to kick off their Chilean Menu that begins on October 3! Click here to see October's menu.
