Johnstown area snow sports report: ski resorts for March 30, 2013

Spring is here, but you wouldn’t know it in the Johnstown area. With the snow storm on Monday and almost a full week of snow showers it doesn’t seem much like spring. While many are complaining about the extended winter weather, snow sport enthusiast and the local ski resorts are thrilled. The weather this week has brought 20 inches or more new snow to the southern resorts in our area. This has several resorts delaying their closing date for the season. As Blue Knob has posted on their website, “They call it epicness.” This should be some of the best skiing of the season.

The forecast for the Johnstown area for this weekend will take a more spring like turn. High temperatures throughout the area this weekend could reach 50 both Saturday and Sunday with overnight lows falling into the low to mid-30’s. The area forecast is calling for sunny skies during the day on Saturday with increasing cloudiness overnight. Sunday will bring morning clouds with rain showers moving into our region by mid-day. Over night on Sunday, we could see snow starting to mix with the rain showers. So get out for at least one more weekend of skiing this season and enjoy a wonderful Easter weekend.
