There’s a whole lot of world music out there, as artists hungry for a new sound mix and match, push boundaries or simply approach classic jazz differently. For a better look into the jazz outside the U.S., go to the Tangier’s Jazz Fest, September 18-22. At the 14th annual TANJAzz Friday concerts, jazz goes East with music from Bulgaria, Egypt, Tunisia, the Balkans, gypsy jazz, and more.
Twenty-six featured artists come together at various venues, hotels, the spacious BMCI Palais Scene’s large, outdoor space seating 1,500, intimate TANJAzz Club for 1940s cabaret jazz starting at 10 p.m., Bistro des Artistes dinner music, Renault Palais Scene courtyard, TANJAzz Lounge jam sessions, and tons of free city performances at Renault Ville Scene and BMCI Ville Scene. Ninety percent of the Palace artists will play there.
Don’t miss the following artists doing their thing. They’re shaking up the jazz tree.
