”When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.”(John 19:30)
Finishes are experience throughout a person’s life. One completes reading a book. A competitive game or race is finished. A favorite meal or desert is eaten until finished. These completions mark an end to something and then a new beginning can be experienced.
Jesus, the only Son of God, experienced a completion of His life. He willing gave up of His life and His spirit at the cross. His death finished the race that mankind created in the Garden of Eden. He conquered the threat of death, hell, and the grave. He became the punishment for the sins of the whole world. A new beginning was to take place for all who believe and receive Jesus as the penalty for sin.

Jesus came to do the will of the Father in Heaven. He had a goal to complete. He was focused on fulfilling the plan of God and bringing salvation to the world!
Jesus could not be persuaded to get off course and forsake the plan of God. He kept the vision in mind even though there was some struggle in the Mount of Olives. He said, "Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done."(Luke 22:42)
Jesus finished it on the cross and willing gave up His life. The goals was completed. He conquered sin, death, hell, and the grave. Good Friday is "Good News" for all who believe.
