There is a good chance that your leaking toilet is due to a bad toilet flapper, and if it is your flapper, it is not as bad as you may think. Replacing a toilet flapper is a relatively easy fix, doable by most everybody and the fix generally requires no tools. Since there are a number of different types of flappers it would be advisable, if possible, to take the old flapper with you when you go to the hardware or home improvement store to buy a new flapper. And should you have more than one toilet with the same flapper it would be a good idea to purchase a couple of extra flappers (they are inexpensive) to have on hand for the next time you have a leak.
