Even here in little Humboldt County, California, everyone knows by now that Angelina Jolie had a double mastectomy to rid herself of the possibility of breast cancer, the disease that killed her mother. Everyone also knows that Brad Pitt found his marriage to Jennifer Aniston "pathetic" and that while married to the "Friends" star he was “trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn't.” Celebrity watchers are even in awe of the adorability of eight-year-old Zahara Jolie-Pitt's disgust when seeing her parents kiss. But, really, is anyone else sick of these two?
The press acts like Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are on the same level as Mother Teresa or Mahatma Gandhi. Every single thing these two people do garners front page treatment! Brangelina and a new organic wine label? Stop the presses. Angie buys Brad a waterfall for his birthday? Change that headline; the story of the kid saving his pennies to help his friend go to camp is out, Brad's birthday present is in!
Sure, they are considered one of the most beautiful couples in Hollywood and they have about two dozen kids and they contribute millions to charitable organizations. Great. But let's not forget that they are human. They are not perfect and they do not walk on water.
What was the last really good movie either one of them starred in? Anyone? Brad Pitt has had a series of okay films but one of his best roles still remains Tyler Durden in "Fight Club." What about Angelina Jolie? Aside from her role as Lisa Rowe in "Girl, Interrupted," the part that got her the most press was that whole weird leg-baring episode at the 2012 Academy Awards.
Anyone else sick of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie yet?
