The robbers, being dubbed “Bobbie and Clyde” were caught on the business’s video system entering the building where they waived their guns as the owner and a tax preparer. One then started to enter the back room where the security guard was grabbing the rifle.

Seeing the rifle the robbers began to flee firing behind them. the security guard fired two shots before the robbers got away on foot. Only the guard was injured but will recover from the shot to his leg according to Inkster Police Lieutenant Jeffrey Smith.

Gun control continues to be a key issue in Lansing as the legislature is seeking to restore gun rights by eliminating gun-free zones and other restrictions. A bill was passed during the lame-duck legislative session the day before the massacre in Newtown, Conn. but Gov. Rick Snyder vetoed the bill because of feelings of insensitivity toward the victims of Newtown. However the issue is still in the legislature seeking revisions where it is once again expected to pass.
