Or visit the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, home to over 6,000 animals and an 18-hole championship golf course. As of 2010, Ohio offers approximately 20 water parks throughout the state, giving families hours of outdoor, water-splashing fun. Ohio's newest achievement is providing indoor water parks, so families can enjoy entertainment of this nature any time of year.
CoCo Key Water Resort
Located inside of the Cherry Valley Lodge, the CoCo Key Water Resort is an excellent way for friends and family to spend the day. It's Ohio's largest indoor water park, featuring over 50,000 square feet of pool areas, slides, grottoes, caverns and whirlpools. It's like being at your very own indoor island paradise, only you don't have to leave your state to get it. The temperatures are a comfortable 80 degrees inside CoCo Key, and you'll never run out of things to do. There are even areas designated for your little ones, like Parrot's Perch equipped with a kiddie slide, and the Zero Depth entry pool that's the perfect size and depth for your little waders just learning to swim. Teens and adults will appreciate the fast-pace tube slides that rocket you down for a big splash entrance into the main pool.
Fort Rapids Indoor Waterpark Resort
At Fort Rapids in Columbus, Ohio, every season is summer. This indoor water park is open year-round and offers something fun for each family member. Fort Rapids features 12 different water rides, a number of different water activities and a video gaming arcade. Enjoy the warm, climate-controlled environment of 84 degrees, which should feel spectacular as the weather starts to get colder. Toddlers can try out the Kiddie Corral featuring two smaller slides that will zip them into a shallow pool. For older kids, there's the Rascal Round Up where you can shoot water cannons at your friends, or slide down any of four slides. Come prepared to get wet, for there is a large tipping bucket that dumps over 1,000 gallons of water throughout each hour. Adults also have a place of their own to relax while the kids are at play. Take a soothing soak in the Fort Rapids hot tub area for adults only.
A newer water park in Central Ohio can be found at the Bellville, Ohio, Comfort Inn and Suites. It's called Splash Harbor and it features a 49-foot twisting water slide. Try avoiding the buckets of water that dump on you, or the shooting geysers of water that will spray you out of nowhere. This 6,000 square-foot indoor water park has a floating raft area, a kiddie pool and basketball hoops so you can play a little one-on-one while keeping cool. Splash Harbor features two on-site hot tubs, one for adults only and one for families to share. There is a video gaming area and party rooms to hold birthday events. Even though Splash Harbor is indoors, the roof does retract enabling you to get some fresh air and sunshine in the summer.
