Recently science daily has published an article concerning the rise of oral cancer in younger adult due to oral sex. HPV virus known as human papillomavirus is responsible for these types of cancers. It attacks mucous membranes. HPV has been found to be associated with several types of malignancies including the Oropharyngeal tumors.

The virus known as HPV16 is part of the papillomavirus. It contributes more to the incidence rate of oral cancers. Oral cancers are located particularly in the posterior part of the mouth, pharynx, the tonsils and the base of tongue areas, as well as head and neck. These types of cancer do not produce visible lesions or discolorations. The numbers of diagnosed cases grow to approximately 54,000 individuals and 13,500 deaths per year in the U.S. alone.
