The following steps were used to begin drawing this mountain inspired illustration, which is the view of Hesperia as seen from the San Bernardino Mountains. Drawing pictures of local scenes is a budget friendly way to create art for the walls of any home. Local artwork is also a way to make home decor more personalized than just buying manufactured posters. The photos demonstrate how the first half of this drawing was created.

  • Adding the first details to the drawing of the  view of Hesperia, which can be seen from the backside of the San Bernardino Mountains.  The first step to drawing was simply sketching in the outline of the trees and the mountains.
  • In this stage of the drawing the small details were added to the illustration, such as the trees on the hills in the distance and the canyon below.  Also, more branches were added to the bare oak trees in the foreground since this drawing depicts a December scene in the San Bernardino Mountains.

  • The sky was carefully colored in with a blue colored pencil, and the trees were colored in with several different shades of gray colored pencils.
  • The first half of the drawing is colored in after the sky has been fully shaded in with the blue colored pencil.  A couple of yellow and brown leaves were added to the barren oak trees to evoke the December scene.
