HORROR MOVIES UNCUT FRIDAY FEBRUARY THE 15TH

-This is a disclaimer acknowledging that every Friday from here on out I will provide to you a weeks worth of Horror movies on the rental and VOD circuit. Some of these movies are so bad they will never see the light of day on the main screen but some are hidden gems unknown to the general mainstream moviegoers. I feel it its my duty to make sure you don’t miss out on any future cult classics so I bring to you my weekly installment of Horror Movies Uncut. The thoughts and opinions on these reviews are clearly my own and should be shared by many!

BEST PICK OF THE WEEK

MIMESIS NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD-
Lets hear it for the guys over at Anchor Bay for consistently finding great film to watch that will always be overlooked. Mimesis is way better than expected. The story and execution is better than average for this twisted tale. It involves a group of people who attend a zombie party only to be drugged and put through the most terrifying role playing experience ever. This is a film that you have to watch from the start to get the full benefit of the film. All you pretend walkers better snatch this up this weekend as it will be the best alternative to satisfy your zombie needs!

THE REST OF THE FILMS

SILENT HILL REVELATIONS-
Read my official review here. This is one of the biggest disappointments of 2012 for me. Being a fan of the first film and the game series I was eagerly expected a great sequel and was not pushed off by the 3D. Nothing could have saved this film and you would have thought with the distance between the two films the sequel would have at least come close to being as good as the first. The story was bland, the acting was bland, the execution of the creatures was pathetic and from the opening scene I knew I was in trouble. If you are a fan of the first be weary watching this but if you didn't like the first just let this one be.

RISE OF THE ZOMBIES-
Another zombie entry that was better than expected. Usually its hard for even myself to sit through any Asylum/Syfy channel film but it helps when it’s no commercials. It also helps when you have heavyweights like Danny Trejo and Levar Burton fighting zombies. How can you go wrong? I’m a little suspect on the whole zombies climbing up the Golden Gate bridge thing but there are many things to like about Rise. Its a different view on how they contracted the virus that isn't anything spectacular but it is different. Zombies fans should grab this one with Mimesis and have a great night of zombie flicks like I did this week.

SMILEY-
Read my official review here. Yes they did it for the Lulz and Smiley could have been good with the concept of a facetime/oovoo/skype type killer but bad execution and a less than desired cast caused me to look down on Smiley. Not all films are worth the hype they get among our circles and Smiley is a perfect example of that.

9 MILES DOWN-
This film almost took the top spot for the must see this week but 9 Miles is a little difficult to follow. It involves a security guard on patrol in the Sahara desert to find out what happen to a team of scientist that have went missing. He runs into the very lovely Kate Nauta who claims to be stranded there. Soon after reality becomes a thing of the pass as he is trying to cope with what is real and what is not and is Kate a person or actually a demon trying to hurt him. This is a film I would like to watch again because it moved so slow that there are things you miss. I’m always a fan of well done psychological thrillers and if 9 Miles was a little shorter it would gain a fan for sure. I wouldn't pass up on this film if that is your thing. It is not bad by any means but you have to keep an open mind while watching it as it is visually a work of art and I’m not just talking about Nauta.

So head out there and get to renting this weekend!
