-This is a disclaimer acknowledging that every Friday from here on out I will provide to you a weeks worth of Horror movies on the rental and VOD circuit. Some of these movies are so bad they will never see the light of day on the main screen but some are hidden gems unknown to the general mainstream moviegoers. I feel it its my duty to make sure you don’t miss out on any future cult classics so I bring to you my weekly installment of Horror Movies Uncut. The thoughts and opinions on these reviews are clearly my own and should be shared by many!
BEST PICK OF THE WEEK
Read my official review for Insidious Chapter 2 here. I was very entertained by this movie as I thought it was an intelligent sequel to first film. Anytime a movie picks up where the first left off I'm immediately hooked even though the storyline became hollywood ish. Most movies with nothing but flashbacks are usually annoying but somehow Wan and crew blended this aspect together flawlessly. In regards to big budget supernatural films it wasn’t as good as its sister film The Conjuring but made an impressive mark at the box office. Insidious Chapter 2 is on my top 30 films of 2013 and should be rented this weekend!
THE REST OF THE FILMS
Read my official review for Ghost Team One here. This hilarious found footage movie played like a parody but was all it’s own movie. The film follows two sex depraved roommates who semi believe that their place is haunted and decide to document the entire experience. Matters get worse when their roommate hides in his room and is soon possessed by the spirit of an brothel madam hell bent on killing them all. The movie takes a few turns towards the end that slow it down, but overall Ghost Team One is astoundingly funny. There aren't too many scares but you will be highly entertained by this film. Ghost Team One is on my top 30 films of 2013 list so pick this one up today!
Cassadaga is now available on DVD read my official review here. This is a very done slasher whose highlight is the demented killer. They call him gepetto and he creates his marionettes out of the young women surrounding this mysterious town. I really enjoy Cassadaga as it reminded me of a better version of Gothika. Kelen Coleman and True Blood’s Kevin Alejandro star in this gruesome little flick. Cassadaga did not make my top list this year but I feel it is a horror film that everyone should see. There is nothing really new brought to the table except for the awesome concept of the killer and that’s why you should go rent Cassadaga. 4/5
Kinda hard to top this astounding list but the next film was the thriller Ferocious. It wasn’t horrible just a little difficult to follow in the beginning. The movie follows a young actress looking to clear up her past and get rid of a sex tape. She finds out there is more at stake than what she thought and the night becomes a bloodbath filled with lies and deceit. Kim Coates from Sons Of Anarchy plays the evil from her past and his performance is somewhat forgettable. Ferocious is one step up from a Lifetime thriller so don’t think its as over dramatic as those. It has a little bite to it and with some better acting could have been a solid film. Why not give it a view?
