A ridge of high pressure was centered over the Capital Region this morning, and will move to our southeast through the day today. This will cause the winds to shift direction to the south and southwest through the day, and also allow for some thin and wispy cirrus clouds to streak across the sky from time to time. Temperatures will be a couple degrees warmer during the day today than they were yesterday.
High clouds will continue to stream across the skies overnight tonight, as the high pressure area shifts further offshore, allowing for the region to come under the influence of a warm front heading into the first day of the new work week on Monday. Showers and thunderstorms are possible on Monday afternoon and evening as the front passes through the region.
Unsettled weather, with elevated humidity levels and scattered showers and thunderstorms, looks to persist through the midweek period. Temperatures will also rise above normal. Relief from the humidity does not look to enter the picture until Thursday afternoon, as a strong cold front sweeps through the area, bringing another round of shower and thunderstorm activity to the region. This looks to be followed by Canadian high pressure to end the work week. This high pressure area looks to remain in control of the region’s weather through the upcoming holiday weekend.
