Wizard World Portland is the first convention stop, which draws over 50,000 visitors and the poorly scripted narrative implies it's "the inaugural year for the convention." Inaugural year for Wizard World? In Portland? Hosting a cosplay competition? This is unfortunately a trend -- Heroes of Cosplay attempts to manufacture drama through poorly-scripted interactions that don't have even the slightest whiff of authenticity.
All the cosplayers regularly whine about how unforgiving life in the public eye can be -- as they have embarrassing discussions about their bodies on a reality television show. At one point, Holly discusses creating a head cast of Jessica and complains about how she might be stuck in there...which would be considerably more authentic if Jessica wasn't sitting right next to Holly in the shot.
See the list for what the cosplayers wore and how they feared in the competition.
