In recent light of the hoopla surrounding the Kanye West versus Jimmy Kimmel drama, I got to thinking about why we as an audience ridicule our entertainers for being passionate and verbose about their craft. We allow the media continue to do this to our favorite artists because we're too lazy to understand them. We would rather point and laugh with everyone else because we don't get what they're talking about or maybe we can't relate.
I'm not saying every word that comes out of their mouths is gold but it's worth opening our ears and listening to what they have to say. Not to say that healthy criticism isn't unacceptable, but there's a difference between disagreement and outright combativeness. Let's have a conversation about something more than Miley Cyrus's twerking and Rihanna's penchant for pot smoking.
"Music is a reflection of self."
