Lego Movie Builds Fan-base
Topping the list of highest grossing movies of 2014 thus far, is "The Lego Movie". This action/adventure animated is a favorite for adults and children. According to boxofficemojo, the total gross for this film was $252,877,964.
The story itself surrounds an regular guy named Emmett who get mistaken for the most extraordinary person and ventures out on a quest to save the world. The movie itself presents a great moral and entertaining plot. With great graphics and easy to understand dialogue, there is no wonder why children begged parents to watch "The Lego Movie".
Steve Rogers Comes in Second Place
Chris Evans is one lucky guy. With a huge male fan base and female admirers, "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" comes in second place as the top grossing movie of 2014. Alongside a fantastic co-star, Scarlett Johansson (who played Black Widow) this film deserved the rating it received on Rotten Tomatoes of 89% and grossed a total of $229,381,211.

Many viewers rushed theaters based off of the book because the trailer was vague and uninteresting. Even after viewing the movie some local Miami viewers claimed the film was "dumb, boring and bland", says Mariah T. of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
Still it held its place this year and although the sequel may not possess any great qualities either, it is expected to do fairly well with little competition.
Kevin Hart & Ice Cube
Ice Cube, Kevin Hart and John Leguizamo team up in this year's number one comedy called "Ride Along". With great marketing and a cool cast, this film comes in at the number four spot for top grossing movies this year at $134,202,565. This movie is still in theaters so if Tyler Perry films just does not quite do it for you any more, then here is something to look for.

"Mr. Peabody and Sherman" comes in at fifth place and becomes an instant classic. Raking in $108,145,101 (according to box office mojo), this fan favorite was a perfect way to start the year.

'300' Film Finds Its Place
Surprisingly a popular sequel to the first "Rio" film, "Rio 2" comes in seventh place with a total gross of $98,870,276. With the familiar voice of Jesse Eisenberg, this film was released in April and joins and follows the story of Blu, Jewel and their three kids as they take on the wild, literally.
Russel Crowe in 'Noah'
With a total gross of $98,124,749, Noah came in eighth place this year with its one hundred and thirty-eight minute dramatic presentation. Rotten Tomatoes rated it 77% and Russell Crowe did not seem to mind! Check out an interview with Crowe on his role in Noah.
