Great Places in Chicago to get some Tea

All around the city Argo tea is popping up. This is more of a cafe than tea shop, but beats Starbucks anyday.  Have a tea latte or order any tea to be brewed on demand.  They also have bulk bins if you want to take some tea home.Right in the heart of Chinatown is Ten Ren tea.  This place has walls of Chinese tea and ginseng.  From cheap restaurant tea to high quality oolongs this place has everything.If you are a fan of Japanese green teas, make your way up to Lake Forest and have some tea at The Green Teaist.  They have the freshest green tea you will ever try.View the list »
My personal favorite.  Hiding in Evanston just off the Davis Street Purple Line stop is Dream About Tea.  This as authentic of a tea shop as it gets.  They have yixing pots, bamboo trays, a metro rack full of puerh tea, and jars of so many different black teas.  They will also make a cup of tea for you while you shop.  Don't miss this place.

Chicago is quickly becoming a Tea City. If you find yourself in Chicago, check out these tea retailers to get your fix. Some offer great tea service, other have high quality tea to buy. Either way, living in this city gives me many opportunities to try great different teas.

  • Located on State Street, Old Orchard Mall, and in Naperville, online retailer Adagio Tea has opened up three locations in the Chicago area.  They have two walls full of tea.  If you are unsure as to what you want, they will let you sample anything.  They also have some great teaware at half the price of other "mall tea stores."
