The 56th annual Grammy Awards is well underway today with events just before the red carpet and award show begins live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
The live events begin at 7 p.m. with the celebrity red carpet arrivals followed by the Grammy Award show telecast. A partial list of winners were announced at a pre-telecast ceremony including in the Latin category. Among the Latinos nominated were Carlos Vives, Marc Anthony, Draco Rosa and others - who have also won a Latin Grammy or two recently. Colombian Vallenato, pop and rock star Carlos Vives, American-Puerto Rican salsa singer Marc Anthony and Sergio George and various artists were all vying for the Best Tropical Latin Album category. As for the Best Regional/ MexicanTejano Album and also recent Latin Grammy winners were Intocable and Banda Los Recodito. Draco Rosa is pushing for a Grammy to partner with his Latin Grammy trophy.
Other Latinos nominated in non-Latin categories were Gloria Estefan, Bruno Mars, Paquito D' Rivera and Miguel. Latins scheduled to appear at the Grammys are Marc Anthony as an award presenter and Prince Royce who will perform during the Grammy's Pepsi Super Bowl half-time show.
