President Obama has had an extremely tough week attempting to keep America and her allies safe at home and around the globe. Not only has he expended efforts and valuable time trying to convince the world of a decidedly dangerous threat from a hostile government in the Middle East, he has had to work overtime to make the case to America for potentially volatile future security threats to the people he took oaths to lead and protect here at home. He has had to try and make America see the damage which would result if we decide to do nothing as innocents, too many of them children, die a horrible and painful death, which should have never happened. All without tipping our hand and divulging sensitive data and intelligence better left to the advantage of U.S. lawmakers, intelligence community, and the military. However, his “war” did not begin with the Assad regime using chemical weapons against its own civilian population. His war began when he won his first presidential election in November 2008, escalating as he took his first oath of office and through the night of his first day as the 44th president of the United States on Jan. 20, 2009.
Beginning with President Obama’s first inauguration, Republicans refused to pull together as one nation, choosing instead to plot against the president and the American people. During the president’s inauguration balls for his first term, while he and the rest of the country celebrated the change of guard, top Republican lawmakers and strategists were plotting ways to sabotage his presidency at a private dinner lasting almost four hours. There were approximately 15 Republicans at that dinner, including Rep. Pete Sessions from Texas, Newt Gingrich, Sen. Jim DeMint from South Carolina, Sen. Jon Kyl from Arizona, Rep. Eric Cantor from Virginia, Rep. Kevin McCarthy from California, Sen. Bob Corker from Tennessee, Frank Luntz, and Rep. Paul Ryan from Wisconsin, to name a few of the 15.
In the Caucus Room in Washington, D.C. these Republicans schemed and conspired on ways of recovering their lost political power with the debacle of the Bush/Cheney administration, as well as their routing out with the McCain/Palin dusting. Also on their agenda that evening, these men dreamed up means of obstructing in any way President Obama’s promises made to the people of America during his campaign, while discrediting any of his accomplishments and using propaganda to try and destroy his personal reputation.
