Summer fades away and the autumn season means football, picking out pumpkins in the pumpkin patch, moonlit crazy corn mazes, hot apple cider, lots of chilly temperatures and reasons to wear layered looks for fall.
Here’s a quick review of five fashion trends for fall 2013:
- Jackets: Moto, sporty athletic and tweed blazer
The 50s motorcycle jacket (Rebel without a cause) continues to have a firm grasp on our fashion consciousness however with a slight tweak with softer fabrics, collarless styles and all kinds of colors, fabric textures and more.
Varsity athletic is a youthful sporty way to energize your casual weekend look. Most jacket are showing an embroidered animal print logo on the back so shop for one that is unique and special so you will keep it for a long time.

Tweed schoolboy blazer is a classic and so much fun to layer over a blouse, cashmere sweater paired with perfect skinny jeans and oxford lace up shoe. The look is timeless and very figure flattering.
- Skater skirts, brocade and the velvet 40s dress
Skater skirts remind me of the Olympic skater Nancy Kerrigan and Olympic lace-up debacle of Tonya Harding (Naughty or nice) either way you look at it the skater skirt is adorable fall fashion. You can get the look with a pullover animal print sweatshirt, textured colorful legging, oxford shoe, and wrap around the neck chunky scarf topped off with a baseball cap.
Brocade dresses and the velvet 40s style dress are awesome fall fashion trends. New York Fashion runways earlier this year at Caroline Herrera and Ralph Lauren shows featured the luscious look of velvet in blue, black and burgundy.
A brocade dress in peacock blue and a velvet 40s style dress is a super daytime, dinnertime and ultimate ladylike look I hope stays around for a while. One of my favorites fall fashion trends because its figure flattering structure and wonderful rich luscious look of velvet and brocade fabrics.
Over-the-knee boots are still all the rage that look like the Three Musketeers, oh well, women do love to dress like men. The oxford shoe has made a come back and now doubles for the ballet flat. Oxford shoes are wonderful stylish footwear in silver, animal prints, cobalt blue and leather.
- Color for fall
Emerald green, burgundy, cobalt blue and silver. Monochromic looks from head-to-toe include white, burgundy, navy and more.
- Sweatshirts and tees:
Animal Prints (Leopard), animal logo print sweatshirts (Tiger) and graphic tees
