Young Adult author Dahlia Adler's debut novel "BEHIND THE SCENES" hits shelves this week. The story follows high school senior Ally Duncan as she enters the wild and crazy world of Hollywood. Ally's best friend is Vanessa Park -- star of TV's hottest new teen drama -- but Ally's not interested in following in her BFF's Hollywood footsteps. But when her father's mounting medical bills threaten to stop her dream in its tracks, Ally nabs a position as Van's on-set assistant to get the cash she needs. Spending the extra time with Van turns out to be fun, and getting to know her sexy co-star Liam is an added bonus. But when the actors’ publicist arranges for Van and Liam to “date” for the tabloids just after he and Ally share their first kiss, Ally will have to decide exactly what role she's capable of playing in their world of make believe.
To celebrate the release of "BEHIND THE SCENES," we got Adler to spill the top five television shows that her BFF characters Ally and Van would have at the top of their "Must Watch" List. Check out the slide show and make sure to let us know which shows would make your list!
Adler is an Assistant Editor of Mathematics by day, a Copy Editor by night, and a YA author and blogger at every spare moment in between. For more about Adler, you can find her on Twitter at @MissDahlELama and blogging at The Daily Dahlia, YA Misfits, and Barnes & Noble. She lives in New York City with her husband and their overstuffed bookshelves. And don't forget to pick up "BEHIND THE SCENES," available now wherever books are sold.
Teen dramedies may be Van's major love, but set in NYC with characters aspiring to the Ivy League? Definitely something both Van and Ally can appreciate.
Pretty Little Liars
There's mystery! There's intrigue! There is even a person of color in the main cast! That makes this show total bait for our best friends Van and Ally.
90210 (the remake)
Basically the original "Daylight Falls" television show and it is made even more complete with the original Liam played by actor Matt Lanter!
Sex and the City
This is a classic show about city-living best friends with very different aspirations and so it sounds just like our bestie main characters Ally and Van . . .
It may have essentially been before their time, but Van and Ally are girls who know how to appreciate the classics. Plus, cynical brainy girl + fun, attention loving girl = BFF? Hell to the yes.
