Game recap: Salt Lake Bruins drop a pair against Southern Nevada

First base Sam Goold had a hit and an RBI in game one, a hit and run scored in game two. Defensively, Goold made a nice stretch and snag of a tailing throw from shortstop J. C. Snyder for a put-out. Catcher Bo Fisher showed off his defensive arm in game two by throwing out the Southern Nevada baserunner attempting to steal second base by Southern Nevada. Fisher also had a pretty good day at the plate: 2 G, 9 AB, 4 H, 1 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR, 4 RBI.Coyotes pitcher Thomas Pannone, drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 2012, came in for middle relief in game one. Right-hander Justin Rupe was scored with the loss in game one, after coming in for starter Rhett Parkinson. Rupe pitched 4.2 innings of long relief, giving up eight hits and nine runs in the seven-inning contest.

The home opener for Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) baseball started out well enough, with the cloudy skies cooperating by staying dry, if rather chilly. Unfortunately, the weather was among the few bright spots in the afternoon for the Bruins, who dropped both games of the double-header to conference opponent College of Southern Nevada.
