Full Moon Cleansing: Clearing Space in Your Life
The Full Hunter’s Moon in Aries of October 18-19, is a time of culmination of projects and intentions, and a time for gratitude and celebration. Coming at the time of the great harvests in the North, and the Spring planting and new birth and growth in the South, this Full Moon calls us to resolve any conflicts or ambiguity we may have over our individual needs and desires, and those of our partnerships and intimate relationships. As full moon times are times of fruition, completion, and the fullness of being whole within and with others, it is a auspicious time to honor whoever and whatever blesses our lives, as well as honoring, appreciating, and embracing the gifts that Spirit has blessed each of us with.
Consider using these five steps to create a Full Moon Cleansing Ritual for you and your home. With every breath we take, we become aware of the powerful energy that forms, infuses, and animates our lives. With this in mind, create a simple ritual to cleanse and clear space in your life to receive the gifts that are meant for you.
1. Be grateful and appreciative. Write out a list of your blessings. Send a friend a thank you note for something that you appreciate about them. Express your appreciation and gratitude to someone you don’t know well, but who makes a difference in people’s lives.
2. Embrace creative energy. Sing, dance, chant, pray, paint, mold, bake, cook, take a photograph, write a poem, or make a card. Use your creative energy to express yourself. Instead of getting into a frenzy or argument, take the energy and dance it out, paint it, write it out, or put it into some form that transforms the negative energy into something positive and healing.
3. Establish a daily practice of connection. Find ways to connect each day, so that the time of the Full Moon can be a time to celebrate with intention and joy. For example, spend 5 minutes at the beginning and end of each day, praying, meditating, or contemplating what you are grateful for. Acknowledge those practices you do have, and commit to making them part of your daily practice. Yoga and meditation help me stay calm, active, centered, and more grounded. What works for you and your health and well being? Do more of that.
4. Clean and Clear. Clean your home and office, and take a bath or shower.
Set intentions: Clearly define and express your heart-centered intention and seek surrender to letting go.
Count your blessings. Make a list of what you wish to release from your life, experience, and what you would like to receive. What /who would you like to invite into your home? Make a list of all that you are grateful for.
Surrender and Receive. Once you have identified what you need and desire, what you are grateful for, and what gifts you have, surrender your need to make things happen, and allow Spirit to unfold and shower you with blessings. Expect to receive your highest good.
Be Ready. Open doors and windows to increase the fresh flow of energy. Open your heart and mind to receiving what you need in the right and perfect way, at the right and perfect time. Look at how the signs are revealing, right now, before and within you, what is coming to you.
Create a Cleansing Ritual. Seal your Intentions with Action. Rituals are practices we do to signifiy and seal our desires and needs with our intentions. Rituals allow us to practice turning our lives over to the Creative Spirit of the Divine. Symbolically, we let go to receive our best and highest good. You might walk around your house, clapping your hand, ringing a bell, or chanting a prayer as you bless each corner of your home. Call or sing your gratitude aloud as you do this. Be grateful for whatever blessings come your way, and mentally and symbolically, release whatever needs to go from your life. Visualize it leaving. Write it down on a piece of paper, and then burn it symbolically allowing it to leave your experience.
You may also use sage, cedar, rosewood incense, or salt to bless and cleanse the energy of your home. You don’t need all of these. Pick one, and use it in one of the following ways:
Salt. Place small bowls of salt all around the house and under the beds. Leave in place for 24, hours and then dispose of the salt and the energy gathered during the cleansing (dispose of it by tossing it in a large body of running water, or scattering it in the wind).
Smudging. Using Cedar or Sage sticks, smudge the rooms of your house, making sure to smudge the corners, and invoke blessings and release of energy of the home.
Do a personal cleansing ritual. As you pray or meditate, ask that your thoughts be clear, your words be pure, your heart be compassionate and loving, and your actions and steps be right and Divinely directed. Spend some time in quiet contemplation being grateful for the gift of life that you have. Stand in the moonlight, walk under the stars, or take a walk today taking in the beauty of the world and the people around you. See what you have before you, and be glad and thankful.
Take time during this Full Moon period to appreciate your life, and to cleanse all levels of your being so that you are open to receiving the blessings that are yours.
