Four professional sports in Nashville

The Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville has spawned many professional racers who went from the local automobile racing on to the circuit with NASCAR. These include, among others, Darrell Waltrip, Sterling Marlin and the late Bobby Hamilton, Sr. The racetrack at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds in Nashville has withstood many challenges, with the most recent one being when Metro had tried to remove the racetrack from Nashville forever.Now comes a new plan by the Metropolitan/Nashville government to attempt to disband the racing enterprise again. We are hoping Metro's plan fails, and we will probably have to do another petition for 'Save the Fairgrounds Racing' all over again like we did last time, in order to keep the motorsports and automobile racing intact in Nashville for all future 'wanna-be' NASCAR drivers.The Nashville Sounds baseball team which is a minor league baseball team (MiLB) based at the local Herschel Greer Stadium in Nashville will play several home games and have a 'homestand' of perhaps four straight games against a competitor, then they will travel outside the state to play in the other teams hometown.  Among the programs scheduled during the Sounds home games are many which cater to family, to kids and to faith-based groups which always attend.With the advent of the Tennessee Titans football team into Nashville some years ago, we learned that Nashville likes professional football and will surely support a football team. We've had our ups and downs, our highs and lows with the Tennessee Titans. You might call Nashville a 'sporting' town. This town of ours, which is also known as Music City USA, has no less than four - count them - four professional sports teams or activities which reside within a stone's throw of many of our Nashville area residents, making easy the attendance options which are available to all who want to attend.

Not only do we have the Grand Ole Opry, the Ryman Auditorium, the Adventure Science Museum, the Tennessee State Museum, the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, the Tennessee State Library and Archives plus many other entertainment options, but we also have all of these professional sporting programs available to our residents.

Let's see what Nashville can try for next, as far as professional sports go. How about an NBA franchise next? We love watching basketball and think that would be a fine for us.
