The Lake Michigan shore is a great place to get some sun, swim in the cool waters and just relax. However, thousands of people on any given day think exactly the same thing and the beaches along the Michigan side of the lake can get overcrowded quickly on a hot day. Places like St. Joseph, Holland, Grand Haven, and Traverse City are beautiful little cities nestled along the big blue lake. They are also a magnet for tourists. Thankfully there are several unspoiled beaches along the coast for those looking for solitude instead of throngs of swimsuit clad sun worshipers. Here are four spots (traveling from south to north) you can call your own for the cost of a park day pass.
