Although nothing new in the beauty market, sheer lipsticks have been around since the late ‘90s. One of the first sheer lipsticks on the market was by Clinique called Chubbies, basically crayons that you had to sharpen. Sheer lipsticks have come a long way since then. The new crayon like sheer lipsticks are a combination of lip gloss, lipstick and lip balms giving you the best all three have to offer.

Here are 13 great “crayons” that are great to use for summer and are so easy to use you won’t even need a mirror to apply and give you the perfect wash of color on your lips, not your teeth.

  • Originally launched in 2011, Dior Addict Lipstick is still going strong on the sheer lip tint market.   Their newest shade launched this year is the perfect sheer pink for spring.  Available in eight shades and priced at $31 each.
  • Flower, Drew Barrymore’s new line of makeup, has a sheer lip tint called Sheer Up Lip Tint.  These tints are surprisingly high quality considering they can be purchased at Wal-Mart instead of a higher end retailer.  Priced at $7.98 each.
  • Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment found at Sephora, is an ultra rich and good for your lips tint that goes on smooth and hydrates your lips at the same time.  Priced at $22 each.
  • Maybelline Color Whisper by Color Sensationals are lip crayons look like regular lipsticks except that they go on sheer and range from neutral colors to bright bold colors for spring.  Available in a whopping 20 shades each is priced at $5.94
  • Love neutral colors?  Neutrogena MoisturizeSmooth Color Sticks are the perfect neutrals in yummy peachy shades.  Another great thing?  These color sticks also condition your lips.  Vailable in eight shades and priced at $8.99 each.
  • Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain is one of the best formulas on the market, because, well who doesn’t like that blood rushed to your lips just bitten look without the swollen lips?  Avaiable in six shades and priced at $8.99 each.
  • Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick is a glossy lip stain in the form of a grain.  Gotta love the name of the brand as well as their luscious colors.  Only available in three shades though Plum Magic, Nudist and Fuchsia Ristic.  Priced at $16 each.
  • Mint flavored and last longer than most lip crayons, Tarte Lipsurgence Lip Tint is made with a skintuitive formula that responds to your skin’s pH therefore giving you a personalized color.  These come in four springy shades that are great for any skin tone.  Priced at $24 each.
  • New for 2013, Tom Ford introduces his new line of sheer lipsticks that are colorful and range from pink to brown. The price is nothing to sneeze at though.  Each one costs a whopping $48.
