Food and conversations: How to make vegan buckwheat oatmeal cereal.

Having breakfast together as a couple or with your family is a great, quick way to start your day. Daily meals not only encourages communication but unity. It is a way to get everyone in the same place at the same time especially if you have busy schedules. It slows down the pace and encourages peace in your home. If this is not a daily habit of yours try to make it happen more often. To help with this I included a quick breakfast recipe that is sure to fill the tummies of the ones you love.

Buckwheat and oatmeal are good for you, so I figured, "why not combine the two?" I hope you enjoy it!

Makes 1 serving

Ingredients

1/2 cup organic rolled oats 1/2 cup raw organic buckwheat

2 tbsp maple syrup 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

1/4 cup of toppings of your choice (bananas, strawberries etc)

1 cup water (or half cup water and half cup soy/almond milk)

2 tbsp xylitol or raw brown sugar

  • In a small pot bring water to a boil.
  • Combine all ingredients in the pot, let cook for 5-10 minutes on medium heat.
  • Let cereal cool a little, top with fruits and enjoy!
