Comcast's new cloud-based X1 platform recently launched across Colorado, transforming standard TVs into an interactive, integrated experience. How do we love thee X1 platform? Let us count the ways.
You can ditch that ever-elusive remote
Never say “Where is the remote?” again because with the X1 platform you can use your phone. Nearly a third of all adult smartphone users always keep their phone no more than five feet away, putting the constant remote search (P.S. it’s in the couch cushions) to an end. The X1 Remote App responds to hundreds of voice commands like “When are the Broncos playing?” or “Find the Broncos versus Raiders game.” The X1 Remote App is available on iTunes.
It remembers your favorite shows
As they say, history repeats itself. The X1 platform knows that. That’s why it always displays the last nine programs watched across all of Comcast’s services—live cable TV, DVR and XFINITY On Demand.
It beats your grandma’s TV guide
Gone are the days when TV guides arrived by mail or in Sunday’s paper. The X1 platform provides a sleek, intuitive user interface with one-click access to programs and a highly visual guide to entertainment options and related information.
It has more apps than an Applebee’s
Although that spinach and artichoke dip is tasty, the X1 platform provides tons of apps, from Pandora to Facebook, The Weather Channel to traffic reports, right on the TV – and without the calories.
X1 DVR embraces indecision
Can’t decide what to watch? Set your DVR to “Cake Boss,” “Top Chef: Just Desserts,” “The Biggest Loser” and “Extreme Weight Loss,” and it will simultaneously record all four. The X1 DVR function also lets you watch recordings in any room, start and finish a program from separate rooms and store more programs than ever with 500 GB of storage capacity.
