Five reasons to enjoy First Friday in downtown Bakersfield tonight

Today is February 1st, the first Friday of the month and once again, time for downtown Bakersfield's First Friday celebration!

If you haven't visited the downtown area in a long time, here's your chance to see how much the area has improved, with the addition of new restaurants, art galleries, and the monthly First Friday event.

Centered in the Arts District, the event showcases local business, shops, art galleries, and restaurants, as well as local artists and musicians. There's a street fair for original arts and crafts, live music of all types of genres, and plenty of food and drink at several of Bakersfield's finest and unique eateries.

There's even some jazz, with vocalists Kama Ruby and Roger Lounge-Guy Martin perfoming separately tonight.

So head on downtown for a fun evening. Most activities start around 5 p.m. and last until 9 p.m., with some venues staying open much later of course.
