Last week, this column cataloged five of the best horror films from the year 2000. Today's list of five from 2001 reflect the most popular of the year, based on audience ratings from the Rotten Tomatoes website. Those that take more stock in critical opinions may choose instead to check out "Pulse" ("Kairo") or "Soft for Digging", which garnered higher critical acclaim (based on Rotten Tomatoes' averages) than some of the films on the following list. The unique "Soft for Digging" contains less than one minute of dialogue in its 74 minute run-time, and its first half but one word.
