Last month, a few dozen journalists, bloggers, and other media people (including the author) got the opportunity to chat with twenty-two of Atlanta's top attractions at events hosted by the Atlanta Visitors and Convention Bureau. It was a unique chance to hear from so many representatives at once. It is great to know that there are tons of family-friendly (and budget-friendly) options for fun this summer and beyond. And with two new attractions opening this year near Centennial Park, National Center for Civil and Human Rights and the College Football Hall of Fame, there has never been a better time to hang out with the family in Atlanta. For families, Zoo Atlanta provides a great value for it's experience. In addition to seeing the hundreds of animals, the well-kept playground and adjacent "spray" ground can provide hours of fun. And they are free with paid admission. There is also a train, a merry-go-round and other activities for a small fee. Larger families should consider buying an annual family pass. For $119, it includes year-round admission for two adults and up to four children. General admission for 2 adults and 4 kids would be $112. For $7 more dollars, the family can come back all year!

Theme park enthusiasts all over the Southeast are salivating at the new Hurricane Harbor water park that is being added at Six Flags over Georgia. It will be included with general admission. Opening Friday May 23, Hurricane Harbor will feature wave pools, slippery slides, interactive playgrounds, and a relaxing way to have fun in the sun.
