Before the technology revolution of the 1990s, there was the 1980s -- a decade in which some thought we were experiencing some type of technology revolution. People may laugh at the gadgets of the 1980s now, but all of the gadgets on this list were considered groundbreaking then.
Simon was released in the 1970s, but didn't become mainstream until the early 1980s. It was an excellent short-term memory booster where the player had to repeat the pattern of lighted colors and music. Each colored button had a particular tone, so it was music to the ears as well.
Who can forget Nintendo's Game Boy from 1989? It was the first mainstream handheld video game system that offered games such as Mario Brothers and Donkey Kong. The Game Boy sold so well that Nintendo didn't release the Game Boy Color until 1998.
