Five contenders at the Dow Corning Tennis Classic

It says something about a city and tournament organizers when a tennis tournament can survive 10+ years. It really says a lot when an event celebrates 25 years, and it's still growing.

Such is the case with the Dow Corning Tennis Classic, held each February in Midland, Michigan. This women's tournament is a staple on the USTA Pro Circuit and has hosted some of the biggest names in professional tennis over the years.

The tournament runs all this week and there are plenty of special events held throughout the week for fans to experience in addition to the world-class tennis.

“25 years of women’s professional tennis in the Best Tennis Town in the US, says Mike Woody, Executive Director of the Midland Community Tennis center. "And we meet again for this Silver Celebration."

Some of the top woman tennis players in the world return in 2013 for what promises to be an exciting event. As is should be for a Silver Anniversary.

Olga Govortsova won the singles in 2012 and Andrea Hlavackova/Lucie Hradecka won the doubles.

Let's take a look at some of the contenders for the 2013 crown.
